At the Nov 10 CVPE meeting, from 1-2:30pm, at Kindred Church (2515 Waugh), Greg Worthington and Patti Everitt will speak about the upcoming 2019 Texas Legislative Session regarding school finance, curbing HB1842, stopping the proliferation of charters and fighting the privatization of public education in Texas. At the meeting, we will also discuss what we can do to fight for public ed reform during the upcoming legislative session.

Guest speaker:

Greg Worthington worked in the last Legislative Session and is a doctoral student who is writing about how charters are negatively impacting public school funding and the education of public school students. 

Patti Everitt will share legislative priorities developed in collaboration with other education organizations to slow charter growth and level the playing field for our public schools.  Patti is an education policy analyst in Austin and an advocate for public schools who has specialized in charter research.
