The Commission brought together national public education experts and Houston residents and was written after a year of focus group testimony and research. It was co-chaired by State Senator Molly Cook, State Representative Lauren Simmons, and Rev. Colin Bossen.
Co-chair State Senator Molly Cook stated, “This report clearly shows that the takeover of HISD has failed and the current administration is obsessed with masking its true consequences…Our kids are being hurt by the state’s methods, and it is far past time to change them. Mike Miles lies. The only path forward for our students, parents, and teachers is to end this takeover and rewrite our laws so no district suffers like this again.”
