Congratulations to new HISD Trustees Elect Maria Benzon, Michael McDonough, Felicity Pereyra, and returning Trustee Myrna Guidry. With their win, HISD now has a 6–3 anti-takeover majority ready to stand up to Mike Miles and fight for our students, educators, and communities. Deep gratitude to Dr. Audrey Nath for running a bold, principled race that inspired so many.
Even under state takeover, electing trustees who speak truth and raise the alarm matters. They’ll amplify our voices, keep the spotlight on HISD, and be ready to lead the moment local control is restored.
And congratulations to Cy-Fair Trustees-Elect Lesley Guilmart, Kendra Camarena, and Cleveland Lane. Their win flipped a 6–1 far-right supermajority into a 4–3 progressive one that puts kids, teachers, and truth at the center of public education.
Now it’s our turn to keep the momentum going. Are you ready?
Join us Sunday at 2 PM to reflect on the results, discuss Fort Worth, the balkanizing SB 1882 charter partnerships, and what Miles might do next in HISD, thank the candidates for their courageous campaigns, and plan strategy to keep fighting for our schools and kids.
