CVPE endorsed the HISD end-the takeover slate of candidates last Saturday. This election is not about any one candidate—it’s about standing up to a harmful state takeover. Learn more at endthehisdtakeover.com.
Dr. Maria Benzon (District V) has devoted her life to public education and the importance of meaningful learning. An HISD parent, former HISD teacher, district administrator, and UH professor, she will fight for strong schools, support teachers, and ensure parents are partners. Michael McDonough (District VI) is a longtime principal of successful schools who knows how to get HISD back on track. A four-time principal of the year, he will help bring back top teachers, restore effective, responsible budgeting, and strengthen partnerships with parents. Audrey Nath (District VII) is a Harvard-trained pediatric neurologist and HISD mom. She knows how children learn, especially students with disabilities, and will fight for every student. Two candidates, Felicity Pereyra (District I), and Trustee Myrna Guidry (District IX) are running unopposed. |
