A parent who is going to be a poll greeter for the first time tomorrow said, “Can I ask a dumb question? I am working a poll on Saturday, but I am not sure what to do."

How to Poll Greet: Stand with your sign, and as voters pass, offer a card while saying a short message. Aim for a 1-2 sentence pitch—many people appreciate a quick, clear reason to vote No on the HISD bonds.
Tip: Wear the Vote No Sticker on your shirt. Borrow a sign at the poll, but please put it back on its stake when you're done.

Sample Pitches:

  • “Never in a million years would I have thought I'd be voting no on a school bond, but Miles and the current board cannot be trusted with one cent more."
  • "Support our kids by voting No on Props A & B! It’s Texas’s largest school bond, but only 19 schools get full rebuilds."
  • "I have two kids in HISD, and their experience with Miles has been so negative that I can’t support this bond until he’s gone. Our kids need better leadership more than new buildings."
  • "Usually I back school bonds, but not this one—it gives Miles and the board too much unchecked control with no accountability to taxpayers."
  • "The Republican and Democratic parties are BOTH opposing this bond: Vote No on Props A & B!"

Remember to hold up a yard sign and smile—many people will want to talk about the issue.
