"For four months, Houston Public Media had been working on a widely anticipated podcast about the state’s takeover of the Houston Independent School District and its controversial installation of Mike Miles as superintendent. But when the release date of May 3 rolled around, the podcast was nowhere to be found... Eleven days later, HPM finally gave a cryptic explanation: 'The podcast will not be released.'

The cancellation was due to a 'conflict of interest' after executives learned that Walsh was in a relationship with an HISD teacher. However, many were baffled by this decision. As one expert noted, 'In a school district that has eleven thousand teachers, the fact that a reporter might be dating one of those teachers, who is not involved in the story as a character... It’s a bit of a head-scratcher as to why that relationship would keep this story from getting out to the public.'"

Curious about what happened? Read on to uncover the story "Behind Houston Public Media’s 'Head-Scratching' Decision to Kill The Takeover," a podcast investigating HISD’s state-appointed superintendent, Mike Miles.”

Join us for Lunch & Letters: Urging GHP to Oppose the Bad Bond and Save Our Schools on Tuesday, 10/1 at noon. Use your lunch break to help deliver letters written by Houston students, parents, and teachers to the Greater Houston Partnership president or board members. These letters call on GHP to stand against the harmful bond that threatens our public schools.

While we normally stand behind public education bonds, we cannot support this one. It's a bad bond, crafted with bad intentions, and it will harm our schools.

There’s still time to write your letter! You can send one today personalizing this [SAMPLE] or bring your handwritten letters with you on Tuesday. If you can't make it, drop off your letter at 619 East 11 1/2 St. and pick up a yard sign.

Have you picked up your No Trust No Bond sign yet? They're free, but donations are welcome to help fund the next batch, post them at the polls  and get them out into yards. Donate via Venmo @houstoncvpe or Zelle: 346-330-8555 or at houstoncvpe.org/donate.

Order for pickup locations here. https://forms.gle/BLG8P6utfcdzd39E8

Can you share the message at Tuesday’s Neighbor Night Out? Get some signs and flyers ahead of time. You can even set up a table with information about the bond and yard signs to give out.
