F Mike Miles’ reckless spending is putting us in a financial crisis. NES schools aren’t even allowed to spend funds on substitutes anymore and non-NES schools had their budgets cut multiple times since June.

We should all be paying attention. 

HISD owns a lot of land and property. In 2024, Superintendent Mike Miles and the unelected board of managers changed the rules for how money from property sales can be used.

Before, that money was set aside for school buildings, things like major repairs, renovations, and fixing air conditioning. Now, money from property sales can go into HISD’s general fund, which pays for day-to-day operations.

In short, Miles is selling off our public schools to pay the light bill.
