Thank you for joining us for the 2026 Summer Forum as we came together to protect public education. It was an unforgettable day of learning and purpose-building.

More than 140 participants attended our workshops, presentations, and teach-ins by public education experts from all over the state. Community members, high school students, parents, teachers, and college students left informed, inspired, and ready to stand up for public education. In the coming weeks, we'll share recordings of many of the forum's outstanding presentations.
We are grateful to our keynote speaker, Domingo Morel, who connected the struggle for public education to the struggle for democracy itself.
We are also grateful to our forum and summer internship sponsors: the ACLU of Texas, the Northeast Houston Redevelopment Council, Congressman Christian Menefee, State Rep Christina Morales, State Rep Penny Morales-Shaw, HISD Trustee Maria Benzon, Kelly Blikre, Laura Henry, Ruth Hoffman-Lach, Ann McCoy, Dr. Audrey Nath, Traci Riley, and Denise Wilborn. Thank you for your generous support and partnership to fight for Texas public schools.
During lunch, we enjoyed inspiring poetry and prose by Sister Mama Sonya, Jeremy Eugene, and Emily Yanez. We also presented our first-ever Public Education Champion Award to Jesus Romero for his three years of leadership and commitment to CVPE. Although he's stepping down from his staff role in July, we're fortunate he'll continue working alongside us as a volunteer.

Please consider sponsoring our Student Summer Internship. A gift of $100 or more helps provide a stipend for each of our 20 high school interns. They attended the forum and will spend the next six weeks building leadership, research, and civic engagement skills.
The youth will make our future brighter. Help them get there by supporting their growth!
