You don’t want to miss this.

Join us for our January 31 CVPE meeting at 11 am to get a clear picture of HISD’s finances, how Mike Miles is cashing in and updates on the student sickout.

Ann Eagleton will lead the finance discussion and give you a real leg up in understanding HISD finance and what’s happening with taxpayer dollars under the takeover.

This matters because Mike Miles wants another bond in the fall. While we absolutely want a bond to improve our schools, here’s the only way it should happen:

  • End the takeover, return the elected board and real oversight.
  • Fire Mike Miles.
  • Then, and only then, a bond.

Until then: no trust, no bond. Why give good money to a thief?

We will also discuss the student sickout (RSVP here), how to get involved, and concrete ways to push back against Mike Miles’s plan to charter magnet schools like HSPVA, HAIS, and Energy through SB 1882 partnerships

At the last board meeting, Miles hinted at more 1882 partnerships and school closures. HISD has a workshop on Thursday at 5 pm. Miles calls it “pathways to a sustainable financial future.” It would be better called “pathway to perdition.”
