Can you join Community Voices for Public Education (CVPE) for a mini-Lobby Day on Thursday, January 30th to oppose the hostile takeover of HISD, fight against vouchers,and stand up to the far right attacks on Texas public education? This is the first of several Lobby Days, and we need your support!

We’ll meet at the Houston Federation of Teachers (2704 Sutherland, 77023) at 6:00 AM to caravan to Austin. You can leave your car in the parking lot for the day. If you're driving yourself, the Capitol Visitor’s Parking Garage offers free parking for the first 2 hours. Once in Austin, we’ll gather at Sweetwaters Cafe (316 W 12th St) at 9:30 AM and then walk to the Capitol to meet with elected officials from 10:00 AM to noon. We’ll visit the offices of both Republican and Democratic state representatives and senators in teams of 3-4. No experience is required. Expect tacos at 9:30 AM and sandwiches at the Capitol. We’ll leave Austin for Houston at 12:30 PM. If you can’t make it on January 30th, we’ll be organizing other visits, including committee hearings.
