Will you participate in one or more microscale mutual aid projects to help students and families who are being harmed by the inequity divide widened by this pandemic? This is a collaboration between teachers/staff who are CVPE/HFT members and CVPE parents, teachers, students and community members.

Project 1: Sponsor an art/book basket for elementary students who do not have a computer and/or wifi at home.

Project 2: Help a teacher's beginner ESL class who immigrated to the US less than a year ago and who are currently dealing with food insecurity due to COVID-19. No one should have to go hungry, and the students can’t learn if they’re worried about where their next meal is coming from.

Project 3: Donate a portion of your stimulus check to support low-wage Texas workers and immigrant families hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project 4: Tutor a student. You will need to register with VIPS.

Community Voices for Public Education (CVPE) is a multiracial organization formed in late 2011 that unites Houston parents, educators, students, and community members to advocate for policies that strengthen Houston’s public school system so that all children have access to a high-quality public education.
