Register online until noon on Wednesday for Thursday’s 5 pm meeting. Teachers are hosting a greeting party in front of HISD at 4:30 pm. The press and the public are listening, even if the board and Miles are not. To register to speak, click at https://houstonisd.legistar is.com/Calendar.aspx with step-by-step instructions here. For help, contact HISD Board Services at [email protected] or call 713-556-6121 on Tuesday. Find the agenda packet [here]. If unsure, sign up for agenda item 1. Not sure what to say or don’t have time to write a speech? Click here to read excerpts from an HISD Staff Survey sent to teachers (by a parent) who left HISD. You have 1 minute (150 words) to speak, either in person or on Zoom. Zoom speakers will speak after those in person. To give a longer speech, sign in with a friend and combine your time—2 minutes total, 1 minute each. Speakers speak in the order they sign in at the registration table. RSVP here to get the Zoom link to CVPE’s “How to Register to Speak” 8 pm meeting on Tue. Two years ago, no one would have believed HISD students wouldn’t be allowed to read full novels in English class. But here we are—and our kids can’t wait. |
